Mosquito Celebration Day

Our museum’s partners, the Calgary Mosquito Society, will be hosting this event to update visitors as the restoration of their Mosquito continues in our north hangar. This day-long event will feature:

11:00: Lancaster engine run and Bristol Hercules engine run

11:45: ‘RESTORING THE MOSQUITO’ -A ‘walk-and-talk’ by Jack McWilliam, VP of the Calgary Mosquito Society.

12:30: Lancaster Rear-Turret Demonstration

1:00: Guest Speaker David Biscoe: ‘MY FATHER’S WAR’ David’s presentation will focus on his father’s BCATP time as an instructor at Penhold and finally as a Mosquito night- intruder pilot, completing 23 ops.

2:00: Lancaster engine run and Bristol Hercules engine run -Special Display: Arial Photo Mapping Equipment as used in the Spartan Air Services Mosquito -Displays of Mosquito components under restoration. -‘Before-After’ Photo Displays of the Mosquito’s restoration -

Opportunities to visit with the Mosquito restoration crew -Lancaster cockpit tours -Lunch and snacks available in the hangar
